FRANKENSTEIN
Overview
This was a project done to practice my skills to incorporate book literary themes into the associated cover. I chose to redo Frankenstein since many of the covers designed for it are heavily influenced by the genre over the content.
Concept Map
I utilized a concept map to clarify what theme I wanted to use on the cover and what imagery I might use to accomplish that. I started with a general backbone of what a book cover’s intended purpose was and built off of it to get a clearer picture of how my ideas can enhance that goal.
Style Board
The style board is to help ground the style of the design while iterations are being made. For this project I wanted the cover to convey the notion that Frankenstein and his monster are both the monster and the creator of the monster on the cover.
Iteration
After creating the base image I wanted to show on the cover, I made a number of iterations to get a feel for layout and color scheme. This allowed me to get a better idea of how the colors look across the layout and where the title and author name look best.
